Hello! I'm Nosik, the official mascot of Nota AI. That little exchange? A regular scene from my morning commute. It feels like everyone on the subway wants to know where I got my bag and shoes.
But honestly, when you join Nota AI, this kind of thing just comes with the territory. That said, Nota AI isn't only serious about making great merch. Behind our Welcome Kit and onboarding process is a lot of intentional design — all built to help new joiners feel at home, fast.
Let me take you back to my very first day, and share exactly how I went from nervous newbie to a proper "Nota-ite."
Welcome Kit: Making an Unfamiliar Desk Feel Like Yours
Remember your first day at a new job — sitting at a strange desk, thinking, "Okay... where do I even start?" Nota AI's Welcome Kit was designed with that exact feeling in mind. As you unbox everything and read the handwritten welcome notes left by your new teammates, that unfamiliar desk starts to feel like your own space surprisingly quickly.
Once you feel the warmth of the welcome, find the Jibbitz with my face on it, snap it onto your Crocs, and grab your notebook — the one embossed with our Leadership Principle "Disagree & Commit" — and head to your first meeting. When you spot colleagues across the office wearing the same shoes and writing in the same notebooks, something just clicks: "I'm officially a Nota AI member now."
The kit includes practical office supplies like a laptop stand and mouse pad, plus everyday items that keep you connected to Nota AI wherever you go. And of course, we set you up with a top-of-the-line laptop and desktop. During pre-boarding, you get to choose whichever model works best for you. 😉
Welcome Onboarding: How Nota AI Welcomes New Members
Your first week includes Welcome Onboarding — a chance to explore Nota AI's past, present, and future together. We've designed it to address the questions every new joiner tends to have.
Rather than front-loading everything at once, we break it into stages. Information is delivered at the right moment, in the right amount — starting from the basics like tool setup, then building from there. No information overload.
The only thing you need to bring to each session is an open mind. There's no pressure to memorize everything — all materials are documented somewhere easy to find for whenever you need to revisit them. During onboarding, the goal is simple: start to understand what kind of organization Nota AI is, and begin thinking about what role you can play here.
Toward the end of the onboarding week, the dynamic flips. After Nota AI has been doing the talking, it's your turn: an all-company self-introduction, where every member pauses what they're doing to hear your story.
I'll be honest — the idea of introducing myself to the entire company felt a little daunting at first. But once I started talking about my pets and sharing random life stories, I completely lost track of time. Don't overthink it. Just be yourself.
After my intro, a few people dropped by with questions. What stuck with me most was watching different hobby clubs compete — quite intensely — to recruit me. The energy at Nota AI is real. 🔥
Culture Session: Learning to Work the Nota AI Way
The Culture Session is often called the highlight of Nota AI's onboarding — and it happens one month after joining, not on day one. The reason is intentional: we want you to have actually lived "Nota Life" before we talk about it.
Without that firsthand experience, a culture session risks sounding like a list of nice-sounding words. But after a month of working alongside colleagues, navigating real situations, and making actual decisions, the same content lands completely differently — grounded, specific, personal.
Our Core Values (CV) and Leadership Principles (LP) show up all over the office and on our careers page. But we're not satisfied with people just knowing the terms. True to our LP "Over-communicate" — which is about sharing full context rather than just summaries — the Culture Session walks through the real backstory of how these values came to be. We also run LP Activities where you translate the principles into your own words, moving from abstract text to something that actually means something to you.
This session was genuinely eye-opening for me. On Slack, questions sometimes come in that sit in gray areas — unclear who "owns" the answer. Yet people jump in immediately, without being asked. I eventually realized that's "Be Proactive" in action. Not "that's not my job," but "I saw it first, so I'll take it." That attitude, repeated across hundreds of small moments, is how a culture actually forms.
Ever since, I've made it my mission to be the first to reply. The problem? My hands are a little small... and someone always beats me to it. 😭
By the time the Culture Session wraps, you'll have language for things you'd already noticed — why colleagues made certain calls, why conversations went the way they did. Culture can feel abstract, but Nota AI keeps reinforcing it well past onboarding through Alignment events and Town Halls.!
